Snail Mail

It's summer so we should be focusing on margaritas and pool time,

however a teachers brain never fully shuts off from the classroom.

In such a digital world, it's always exciting to receive fun mail (thats not a bill!)

I personalized these beauties with a few fun facts about our upcoming year.

Printed them as postcards on Shutterfly,

Added on my infamous scratch off stickers,

and send off to my new students!

Now back to summer for a little longer!

Sweet, sweet Summertime.

Sweet, sweet summertime.
Squeezing in as many adventures as we can into our two short months.
We headed to NC for June to escape the Florida heat.

Sleeping with the windows open,  playing family games on the porch, and getting these little people in touch with nature.
It's been a good month.

Hi, I'm Megan.

Welcome! My name is Megan and I'm a curriculum designer, reading teacher enthusiast, and creator of all things Pinterest.   Through my incredible journey of teaching for 12 years, I discovered my true love - designing curriculum and  providing educators with  original, engaging ideas that spark a love of learning in students.

Though I've taught all subjects and an array of elementary grades, teaching reading has a special place in my heart. I love nothing more than a great novel study where students beg to read just 'one more page.'  I create all of my resources with my students in mind. Resources that spark interest and make students agents in their own learning

When I'm not teaching you can find me on adventures with my three littles.  From the beach, to the mountains, we stay busy make some pretty amazing memories in the process.

Meet Nolen, Hudson, and Piper.

I hope that you enjoy this blog as much as I enjoyed creating it.  There are so  many extras when it comes to teaching. My hope is that I can help you keep it simple and keep it fun.
A simple reminder of why you became an educator.

Classroom rewards...I've broken the code

Classroom rewards...stickers, treasure box, I've seen them all.

They all start off strong and then somehow lose their magic along the way.

Well this year I broke the code. I figured it out, they never lost their magic.

I made scratch off tickets (and they were so simple.)

Just download the free tickets HERE.

Apply the SCRATCH OFF  STICKER and your are ready to go!

I had a rockstar group of parents this year who always cleared my Amazon wishlist of goodies. I still made sure to always do a good mixture of free incentives and ones that needed to be purchased.

Some of their favorite rewards were:

Let me know how they go for you!
I hope your students love them as much as mine do.

New year. New decor

The end of a school year means the beginning of a new.

I always look forward to choosing my classroom theme each year. One thing that remains the same each year are calm colors and clean and organized displays. (I cringe at the thought of a bright, cluttered classroom.) I find neutral colors promote calmness and a sense of relaxation, great for encouraging long-term concentration. A little sprinkle of Reggio Emilia into an upper elementary learning space. Creating a feeling of ease, a great way for little minds to start their school day.

Calming woods, lots of greenery (eucalyptus is my favorite), and organized supplies.

Keep it simple, bright, and happy.
